Never had better consistent Mexican food. Out of Townes actually ask to be taken there. Great, professional owner too who appreciates his customers.

My favorite Mexican restaurant on the coast! Great prices (especially for lunch!), friendly service, and tasty food. The food is always consistent here. Today I got the cheesy chicken (but with steak), which is basically fajita meat covered in their delicious (must-get) cheese dip. My sister got the quesadilla (her favorite) with rice and beans. Overall delicious and happy to come anytime I'm home! I'd also recommend the fajitas, the chile relleno, and burrito (I prefer it without beef). Lots of combination plates have these with other delicious foods. I wouldn't call this "authentic", but for American Mexican food, it wins.

I been here twice so far. The first time they had live music. The server was great and super fun. Food was awesome, so many choices. I was so impressed that I called and reserved 12 spots to celebrate my wedding!!! Again, people were super friendly (no live music this time ) but server was great. Love the authenticity of the Mexican food and the people are great. Will come back soon!

Our drinks arrived with lipstick stains on the rim and my brother followed the waiter(secretively) to the bar to see if he was going to make a new one. He just poured the old drink into a new glass!!! I was so sick from this could barely eat my food!! I would not recommend this place to anyone!!

The food was pretty good and service was adequate. But the female waitress was more worried about talking the the 3 Mexican guys in a booth down from us than tending to her tables. Told us 15 minutes to get her to take our money, had to go hand it to her so she would get the hint.

My dining experience was entertaining. The guitarist was singing a little off key that night. My chimichanga was a little burnt, but it was okay. The cheese dip is excellent, especially paired with the salsa. We ordered fried ice cream and the fried part was soggy... so we ate the ice cream inside. I ordered take out once, and they forgot to give me my order of cheese dip, but when I went back, they gave me a platter of queso and huge bag of chips to make up for the mistake. Definitely check your order before you leave - this should be a no-brainer, but I was in a rush. Oops.

I was in Ocean Springs and wound up here for lunch. I ordered an enchilada & taco plate, my bf ordered crispy chicken tacos, and we got the cheese dip. The salsa and chips were yummy. This is pretty standard for a Mexican restaurant though. Cheese dip was also pretty good. It was different than what I imagined cheese dip to be. Pleasantly surprising. Now the rest of the food was nothing special. I live in Sacramento and perhaps I'm spoiled because damn good Mexican food is on practically every corner. The beans and rice was not good, the enchilada was ok, and same with the tacos. The prices were very reasonable. Drinks, entrees, and 2 appetizers for 6 people ran us about $65. Perhaps you get what you pay for though. Anyone who enjoys the Mexican food here needs to take a trip to Cali to see what AMAZING Mexican tastes like!!

The food here is really good. The only thing I've had that wasn't that great were the sopapillas, but everyone cooks them a little differently and I just don't like their version. And they have 2 for 1 margaritas!

Like I stated before I rarely eat Mexican food outside of New Mexico, but my cousins kids wanted to eat here so we came. First thing I noticed was that the floors were really slippery and the place especially our booth had that dingy wet odor like they used a dirty rag and water to clean the tables and floors. The menu was odd and had things on there that seemed to be made up. I ordered the carne asada tacos, and they were not too great. Living in California for some time I like to feel that I know what a asada taco should taste and look like. This one didn't taste or look anything like it. The meat was o.k. just the normal additions that go on it weren't either there or not good. To top it off they messed up several of the orders. The next day a local told me to avoid the Mexican restaurants in the area. Too late.

Great variety of Mexican food. Clean, inexpensive and the fastest service I have ever received in a Mexican restaurant. Food was delicious, the salsa was the perfect balance between mild and medium spicy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I might be spoiled by my hometown Mexican restaurant is the reason that I was not impressed by the food here. I had the shrimp chimichanga which was not very crispy although the shrimp were very large (best part of the meal). My wife had chicken fajitas that had a slight hint of BBQ sauce. The cheese dip was not bad but pricey for the small cup that you get. Service was good and the beverage glasses are a great size. Like I said before I might just be spoiled by my hometown Mexican restaurant.

This is THE premiere place in Ocean Springs for Mexican food in a pleasant and authentic atmosphere. The staff is friendly and service is very prompt, and the food is delicious. I'm a local who has been eating here for years!

Skip it. Skip it, hard. Salsa was runny, chips were cold, food tasted like it came out of a can, and fruit flies dive bombed us throughout the meal. Having seen so many El Saltillos around the coast, my husband and I finally decided to try this "local institution." WOW were all the online reviews wrong. I don't know what people consider Mexican around here. First, the waitress didn't know what "mole" is--I asked if any recipes had mole--what waitress at any Mexican restaurant doesn't know what mole is? Idiot. Second, the food was horrible. Canned-tasting, too salted yet somehow flavorless. We had the enchilada burrito and the enchiladas supreme. Each enchilada was barely filled with anything, the enchilada sauce was runny, the tomatoes and lettuce were STRAIGHT from a bag, and the service was terrible despite the fact it was EMPTY at NOON. Third, we had to hunt down a busboy at the far end of the restaurant to find anyone to give us our check. Couldn't get out of that restaurant fast enough.

This place is terrible. The food is not "Mexican," it's supposedly "Tex-Mex," but in fact, it's neither. It's what results when poor ingredients are prepared badly in an unclean kitchen by, er, non-local persons who are not currently employed in their home country (is that a PC way of saying it?) who don't really care about what they are doing, all for owners who really don't care about anything as long as enough local redneck hicks (as they see them) and stray tourists keep the money flowing. There are now at least 3 of these now, and to be fair, we tried all 3. None were anything more than VERY weak Tex-Mex, and while the other two weren't as bad as the original(?) one in Ocean Springs, all 3 were pretty nasty. I'd eat Old El Paso canned stuff before going back. And I won't eat Old El Paso canned stuff - Id rather eat the cans than the contents. There are very few authentic Mexican restaurants on the coast, but there is now getting to be more than a few decent Tex-Mex places on the coast. Unfortunately, El Saltillo isn't either of them. Tourist Tips - if you're a tourist looking for "Mexican," i.e., "Tex-Mex" - fajitas, crispy taco and enchilada plates with refried beans and rice, etc., there really aren't a lot of good ones on the coast yet, but there are a few. Hey, you're literally on the water here - try some local seafood! If you must have "Mexican," in the Ocean Springs/Gautier/D'Iberville area, there are a few. One is Vega's in Ocean Springs - standard decent Tex--Mex, with a decent little lunch buffet. Then, there is La Fiesta Brava, at Singing River Mall in Gautier - it's clean, Anglo high-schooler types as most of the waitstaff, and good "Tex-Mex." It's the unnecessarily nervous tourist's choice (or the not-quite-sure local's choice), but it's pretty good, too. The other is El Bosque in D'Iberville, which is more of your "traditional, clean hole-in-the-wall family-owned-and-operated Mexican place." And for those actually looking for _Mexican_, there are a few northern Mexico/border region dishes available here. All the Tex-Mex is good. And for the record, I have no ownership in, business with, or am I a competitor of any of the above or any restaurant I talk about, good or bad, other than as a paying customer.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
